CSC: Do you know what CSC the company is?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CSC: Do you know what CSC the company is?

I was joking around and talking about Team CSC with a few CSC employees today during Oracle OpenWorld, and I mentioned how most people have no idea who or what CSC does. None of the employees were shocked to hear that a lot of people don't know, or seem to care, what CSC does.

Without looking, try and be honest about whether or not you know what CSC does.

Do you?

(This thread will ultimately be sent to the same CSC employees, so they have something to giggle about in the office.)

So, did they have a booth? Any good CSC schwag? Gloves? Kit? Probably just pens and squeezy balls. I walked by the convention center this morning; the crowd was huge. I've been an Oracle DBA/Developer for the last 16 years, but have no desire to go to the conferences anymore. Maybe I'm just burned out.

Computers...

A friend of mine is an "IT" consultant. When someone asks him what he does, he says, "I take the 'SH' out of 'IT'."

He gets a lot of business.

lol I found out who CSC was when I heard that our client was switching from CSC to IBM for some IT related services.

I was like, CSC... hm, I wonder who's infringing on who's name here. So I looked them up.

Sort of like CA on the McLaren F1 cars - I didn't realize it was Computer Associates for a long time, not until the guy got arrested for whatever from CA.

At least I knew who AMD was when they popped up on Discovery butts.

I found out they are a It company last year. Before that I always thought of it as TEAM csc, a cycling company always wearing red and white. AND before that when I just started cycling in 2003 I thought csc was the brand of the jersey.

They have a huge complex on the outskirts of town. There's a giant photo-mosiac of the team in the lobby. I've tried to pry it from their hands on several occasions.

CSC = Northrup Grumman = Lockheed = SAIC = Booz Allen

All big government contracting firms in the professional services area. Your tax dollars at work.

I was having a conversation with my wife's brother-in-law when it turned to cycling (imagine that). I knew he had recently changed companies, but I mentioned CSC and he went "yeah I work for them now. You want a jersey or anything?"

He's always been pretty protective of what exactly he does (for security purposes of course ), but I knew enough to know he works in IT.
