Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why can't you clip in???

*rant* Really, WTF is the problem? It's the end of the season with plenty of miles on the same equipment and yet, folks still persist in doing the half-block long 4mph wobble while staring at their pedals. We all miss, but doing it half the time while twenty other people are behind trying to get through the light is just a wee bit vexing. The fourth time in a row. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Ok. I'm done. Call me a ******* ************* ********* ********.

What about the riders who unclip 1/4 mile before the intersection?

This reminds me of Harley riders who can't put their feet up on the pegs the second they start moving. Instead, their feet hang or drag on the pavement for half a block.

Oh, so you were behind me on Saturday and Sunday? I swear, there was something seriously wrong with me this weekend. I'm going to blame it on the fact that it was my first multi-speed ride in months and I'm used to clipping in on the fixed gear now. Yes. That must be it!

For reasons of machismo they have probably set the pedal tension too high. I used to have mine pretty loose and I cliped in every time. I recently set the tension higher and occasionaly I can't clip in if I don't do it just right. I need to back the tension off slightly.

Regards, Anthony

I usually avoid staying behind that person for the remainder of the ride.

this thread and the above brought back the image of Pee Wee Herman, when he rode off on the chopper given to him....right through a fence.

We have 'em in every ride event...always blaming the equipment, how much this costed, how fast he got, trying to gather an audience, voice louder than others.

are you talking about clipless pedals? I find it much much easier to get into spd's than clips and straps.

first time out I installed my cleats backwards. That made it really difficult to clip in. I wobbled all the way home.
