How do you choose your jersey?
When you buy a jersey do you go by color, team, or price?
I like several team jerseys, but is it politically incorrect in the bike world to wear a jersey with Specialized or Cervelo on it when you ride a Trek? |
1 price
2 color 3 brand |
Some people would give you grief, but you shouldn't let them pester you.
See if there's a club you can join that has club jerseys cheap. I bet there are in a town like Athens. |
1. tight and incapable of flapping
2. long enough to cover my entire torso 3. mostly black, grey, or some other bland color 4. zero to as little as possible branding So far I've found only one jersey that I actually like. |

1. fit
2. color/design 3. options 4. price 5. brand |
Fit - the only ones I have found so far that fit me right are small Giordannas
Look - Not flashy, no large logos of any kind (including team) Price - Maybe this one should be first because I never look at them unless they're on sale. Extras - Does it have a mid length to full length zipper, good pockets, reflective bit or bright but not flashy colours (ie white or yellow). Shop - Don't buy from Team Cyclist, Sierra Trading post is usually pretty good though. |

This is a big secret, so don't tell anyone. Nobody cares what you wear.

Bottom line: A jersey is a jersey. Bright colors help you to be seen on the road. Team colors/logos/catchy slogan/commercial names add a "coolness" factor. You can put as much or as little value in the coolness factor as you want. It's all yours. Heck, there are people out there who are still riding in cutoffs sweats. They are happy regardless of how we esteem them. In the immortal words of Duke Ellington: "Be Yourself". |

Wear what you want. I found this jersey at PBK and just think it's cool. It also fits in with my need for something warmer during the late fall/winter rides.

No, there is nothing wrong with advertising products that are superior to the one your ride.
The reason I asked is my wife wants to buy me something "cool" to ride in. I currently ride in shorts and a tshirt. Thanks for your replies. |
When riding solo, whichever one screams "I'm here!" the loudest.
<-- See avatar. Otherwise, the one that accentuates my girlish figure the best. |

Your jersey design choice is yours. But, unless you inherited, I'd suggest going on price.

Mine isn't a ranked list. but here are things that count.
Colors, price, features, fit, overall look. For any single buy. At least here in California if you do long rides in the summer you need a jersey with a good full length zipper. So that pretty much controlled for one buy. (Of course not black and price counted, but the buy happened even if not cheap). I find a steal I may buy, depends what I have, but having a junk jersey is as useful as a clunker for riding when you don;t want to expose your good bike. Hey if I like it lookswise enough I'll but it unless a total ripoff. My SFVBC (local social club) jersey fits that. It was pricy, but not as bad as some club jerseys. It had to be since it was a special order. Same for my LA Wheelmans jersey. I have a Land Rush Jersey. I honestly do not remember if it was included or extra. If extra it was at a nice price, but available only to those who did the ride. I would ahve bought it at anything less than rippoff. And a fair pop of my jerseys were determined by color. When I ride alone I want a jersey where if some jerk hits me he can't say he didn't see me. That he was blinded by the glare perhaps. |

I'll usually just get whatever is on sale somewhere. Rarely have I seen a jersey that I "have" to have. But, I did find a PSU jersey at The Bicycling Shop near the PSU campus, I will probably pick that up next time I'm up there. Other than that, I kinda like the jersey that would get a laugh out of somebody. Like the PI jersey with Oscar the Grouch on it, stuff like that. Random is good.

design, cut/fit, zipper, pockets, price... I like a nice balance between all of them. I could care less who makes it.

I saw that jersey as well....and I think it's awesome....maybe for Christmas! |
1. fit
2. material 3. price 4. color Brand doesn't really matter as long as it fits, I like what it's made of, and I can afford it. |
