Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My finished bike

Just wanted to share this build.
Built from taiwan components and Dura-Ace gruppo
Weight is 7.2kg or 15.8lb with absolulty no regard to use light components.
Internal cabling. Handles great.

It handles great, stiff but not uncomfortble. I can feel every pedalstroke propel me forward. It's a great feeling. Flies up the hills. Of course part of is placebo effect but i am very pleased. Especally since it's my own brand. A lot of research and ingenering has gone into this frame and it's components to reach the highest level of effiencie.. ;-)
Yeah right! It's generic Taiwan componets..

The wheels weight 1487grams. Not the lightest on the market, but it's my everyday wheelset. Got a 50mm clincher set that i use too. The clincher set weights 1572grams.
Of course the wheels are my own brand aswell.
It should not take no more than 10 minutes for you guys to find out where i got the frame an wheels.

I know what brand they are but I'm not telling. Please take 10 minutes on the internetweb and you will figure it out.

Don't tell the others Mike :-)
I think it's amazing what kind of good stuff you can get and get it for such a good price. If you are willing to use noname parts an skip the Pinarellos, Orbeas and all the other big names out there.
This winter i will figure out a nice paint job and paint the frame.

I trust this bike just as much as i would trust a big brand name. Because it's exact same stuff from the same factories, the difference is that my stuff doesn't have a fancy paintjob and stickers.

No, it's not the le roi.. It's the Le Johan :-)

Looks like - the fork gives it away. What was the warranty on those frames? Are there any guarantees the frames weren't QC rejects?

Wanna just tell us the brand name for petes sake? I'm wondering what weights you could have achieved if you did have regard for using light components.

I am certainly curious about the wheels. Do you mind sharing the source or name? You can PM me if you want.

Look like normal Gigantex rims to me. The group buy from bikesdirect.com will be supplying the same thing, I believe.

Is that the same group buy that started to aim for Dec and now is talking about March/April for delivery? I stopped reading there a long time ago as it is way too long and hard to pinpoint what is actually going to happen vs speculation.

Well, the wheels were never planned to be delivered in December. They were originally going to be delivered in March/April, and as far as I know, that's still the timeline. It's one thing to buy a bunch of frames that are already made, it's another thing to purchase rims that haven't been made yet, as well as spokes and hubs, and put them all together.

The frames are still, as far as I know, on a December/January time line.

Jeez, I hate mystery stories... Why not tell everyone? If they want one they can buy one, if they don't they can avoid it. It's not like a ebay/craigslist find where someone might snipe you out of it - you already have one!!!

What's the harm???

BTW - I'm in for the RT700 group buy, this is just out of sheer curiosity...
