Picture Request: Cars With Roof Rack and Front Wheel Carriers
Yes, i searched and while i found the info i needed, there's almost no pictures of what i'm looking for...
Does anybody have a picture of their car with a roof rack and a front wheel carrier (Yakima or Thule)?

From the old days where I liked Fox chassis-ed things.
I put the wheel forks in the middle because it's easier to reach over with a wheel than with a bike. I also put them in the back because I figured it was more aero and less wind hit the wheel.
With Yakima I always rotated the wheel until it sat on the roof. Otherwise it would do it on its own and with a spinning tire, it would leave marks (not that either of the two cars pictured were worth anything).
You should be able to search for pro cycling team pictures - they always show the team car with oodles of stuff on the roof.

My feeling would try to have as little as possible atop the roof. Everything outside is at a higher risk of damage from flying debris. Nice bikes should be in the passenger cabin whenever possible during travel.

This is my car with 3 racks. I once used wheel carriers and one of the wheel ended up under someone's car. Since then, all my wheels go in the trunk.

Thanks for the pics.
I'm interested because sometimes i'll bring a second set of wheels for my bike when going places (my CX bike has 2 sets of wheels, one with road tires one with knobby CX tires). I know, just put them in the back somewhere, but that doesn't quite work so well when your trunk and back seat are packed with camping gear.
I figure i'll get a velcro strap or bungie cord to secure the wheels to the crossbar when driving.

- It holds 3 bikes
- I don't have to remove my front wheel(s), which means the interior space of my car is free for other stuff
- Even I can install it in 5 minutes (it has only 2 thick, padded straps, instead of the usual 4)
- Unlike most trunk racks, it never has to be removed in order to get into the trunk
- It's hauled bikes from Denver to Austin and back and throughout Colorado for over over 12,000 miles with no problems
- Trunk mounted = less bugs and stones for my bikes to collide with
- Trunk mounted = not having to worry about my bikes getting smashed by the top of a garage entrance
- I can sill use my sunroof!!
