Can Anyone Tell Me What this Bike Is?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can Anyone Tell Me What this Bike Is?

I bought this from a co-worker a while back on a whim but never really took the time to figure out what model or year it is. Looks to be kind of a low to mid-level Bianchi from the mid 90's maybe? It's a Thron tubeset with no model name on it, and a Veloce gruppo. Don't know enough about Bianchis to know what their range was like back then - anyone know what model/year it is?

Maybe some close up shots of the drivetrain/etc. would help people identify it. It looks like a sweet commuter at any rate. Good buy (depending on how much you paid).

it is a bianchi campione del mondo from the early to mid 90s. the name of the frame is on a sticker on the down tube right below the steer tube.

Is it possible that they put that sticker on all of their road bikes after Bugno won the World Championships on a Bianchi in '91 or '92?

I paid about $175 which seemed like a steal - someone put it on our company's electronic want ads board and I jumped right on it! I actually ride it a lot more than I expected because it's just a fun bike. I think Higher Ground may be right that all Bianchi's in that era say "Campione Del Mondo" on the down tube, I'm afraid. My wifes Eros does, I know . . . weird, though, there's just no other name on it other than the signature at the rear of the top tube. I'll take some better pics and see if that helps. I'm kind of thinking either Strada or Veloce?

Nice! That's a steal for $175. Love that Columbus fork.

You might want to try the other classic and vintage forum...

I'm sure it's a nice ride. I bought an 89 Bianchi Brava for $100 and it's the most comfortable bike I've owned.
