Anyone use the Kurt Kinetic computer?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone use the Kurt Kinetic computer?

Just bought a KK trainer and am wondering if the computer is a worthwhile training investment: https://www.1upusa.com/kurtkineticcomputer.htm

Anyone using it out there?

I got it to try it out and didn't find it worthwhile IMO. It would be much better if the sensor installed on the trainer itself and were wireless. If you already have a computer with a rear wheel magnet, stick with what you have. (I use my Edge 305.)

What about the wattage measurements? I don't have that on my current computer so thought this might be a cheaper way than getting heavily invested into PowerTaps, etc.

I considered getting it but since it only gives accurate wattage with the bike on the trainer decided I'd be better off with a regular bike computer with a rear wheel magnet and a cadence function on my KK, so I got a Cateye Strada Cadence instead. Here's a link that converts MPH on the KK to watts if you just want to know how many watts you're producing. https://www.kurtkinetic.com/documents..._Curves419.pdf

I too was stupid enough to buy one - not particularly stable readings and wiring is a pain. If you want to know wattage, just print out a chart converting mph to watts.

I have a Road Machine trainer - which I like a lot.

Yep, I got one with my Road Machine. It's not great - the wiring is delicate. AAMOF, yesterday I pulled one of the wires out of the computer base while lifting my bike off the car carrier. I had to take it apart to re-solder. It took well over an hour. What a PAIN.

I own one. It's a cheaply built computer but it does its job. More convenient than printing a PDF and converting manually. I've heard it's pretty accurate but I wouldn't know first-hand. I just tape it on for trainer rides and remove it afterwards. Definitely not good enough to use as a full-time computer though.
