Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My 3rd steel bike added to my family: A resurrected XL-Tall Ciocc 12.5. I bought the frame from a racer who had thrashed it pretty bad--the carbon fork was cracked (because that's what carbon forks do, right?), the rear triangle was misaligned, lots of scratches. I needed a bike I could commute to work fast on, being 20 miles each direction, so I built it up with a SOMA Tange fork, Aksium wheels and a Campagnolo Veloce grouppo, and some nice appointments to make the commute as comfortable as it is fast. I love it. Strangely enough, the scratches seemed to disappear once it was built up!

How do I join and post photos? Now own two steel bikes..... 1980 Raleigh Competition GS and a recently-purchased 2010 Raleigh Record Ace. The GS will likely adorn my headstone when I've retired.

Also, pictures or it didn't happen, pictures preferably with a current newspaper in the background for proof of date

Mine is a 2009 Jamis Aurora made with Reynolds.
Only mods are an ultegra triple crank and a specialized carbon fiber handlebar with specialized black leather wrap tape.
