I thought it was Waterford/Gunnar's version of a custom blend of various tubing to match the rider/style.
So each frame could have had different specs. It isn't a steel, it's many varieties of tubing model and spec.

An article on a mosaic bike made with true temper os tubing and another thread comparing true temper os vs reynolds 753. And in 2016 True Temper exited the bicycle industry for good. Probably was the tubing in question custom made or upgraded ? I don't know. More on the subject with this good thread OS2 is OSX Platinum and here is the quote from Gunnar's website "We took advantage of these properties to develop a whole new system of tubes we call “OS2”. These tubes let us tune the ride the way we like at frame weights not possible with regular chromoly. It performs even better than the traditional tube dimensions using our air-hardening alloys It’s not just a great tubeset that makes a Gunnar. The link you provided has Scooper providing a link to Gunnar's site that says they use a mix of TT OX and 853.
Back when the bike we are talking about was made, yeah it probably was TT tubing since Waterford was heavily invested in that at the time.
But OS2 isn't a known established tubeset. It's just some tubes that Waterford mixed and selected to make their frames. Comparatively, anyone could have selected All OX tubes or S3 tubes and used on of those respective labels.
Agreed, it's going to be quality tubing regardless of what it is- brand or model.

I was surprised today, I was adjusting the rd in the shop today and decided to hang it on the Parks scale, without the seat bag but with cages and pedals 18 pounds 2 ounces.

Why? It isnt like TT had some magical tubing that weighs less than others and allowed the bike in question to weigh 18#2oz. Columbus, Reynolds, Tange, Kaisei, Variwall, Velospec, and more all have tubing that would allow a mid-sized caliper road frame with carbon fork and those components to weigh 18#.

This was my bike up until recently

This is it now....
Same frame tubes with modifications, new fork, new wheels, new groupset.....
Only had a few rides on it and so far very happy with it.

Yes, the seat stays are the originals modified. I had a local framebuilder do all the work. The objective was to upgrade the bike to hydraulic disc brakes (I have arthritic thumbs and found the old avid shorty's were stopping me from riding) whilst keeping the same basic geometry. The modified stays were a result of the new dropouts not working with the existing stays. The fork is custom based around Reynolds 631 disc fork blades.

I guess I can update this again with the latest to sneak into the house.
This is a Kirk Terraplane I got my hands on for a ridiculously low price. Wasn't in the position at the time to buy another bike but the opportunity presented itself anyway.

Local find, Kuwahara Count. Never saw one before so I got it to refurbish and either enjoy or pass on. Lots of fun rides on this last year.

I've never had a Merckx so when this nicely equipped one showed up at a good price the winter I jumped on it. Still waiting for spring to give it a test ride.

I've been looking for a U.S. Flag themed Motta for years in my size. When I stumbled on this NOS beauty as a frameset I could not pass it up. Built it about a month ago with a nice 8 speed Record groupset.

Then being a fan of Oscar Freire back in the day I couldn't pass this up. Originally acquired by Tony Tom of Bike Odyssey, it is supposedly Oscar's training bike from his team he was on when he won his first WC. It's got a far amount of cosmetic wear but works beautifully on the stand. Olmo confirmed it was a team bike but have not gotten confirmation it was really Oscar's. Here again, found late last year and not test ridden yet due to a crazy winter.


Had a similar champagne brown Peugeot I rode all over Germany in the 80's. Searched for another for a long time and stumbled on this locally. It had been powder coated and then poorly refurbed. I sorted it all out, dressed 'er up a bit, threw on some tubular wheels and then enjoyed the heck out of it last summer.

Finally this was another local find. Pretty ratty when I got it, the main appeal being the Superbe parts. Plain was to strip the parts and then donate the frame to the local bike Coop. But I actually found a nice bike under the grime. So tore it all down, full service, polished up the paint and put 'er back together. It may be "too small" but man was it fun to ride last year also.

And I finished this one finally. A Vanni Losa built beauty made for a bike shop in Switzerland. Mostly Suntour Superbe parts with a couple of Dura Ace bits sprinkled in.

Bicycle frame tubing was always a minor side-interest for True Temper. Trek was one of TT's first and largest customers for bicycle frame tubing (both steel and aluminum); when steel bicycle frames became unfashionable, the market for that tubing shrank dramatically. Frankly, I'm surprised that they held out as long as they did, it can't have been a profit-center for them.
