Your Sunday Ride (December 9, 2007)

Notices
Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, I know its 1:45am, but I just finished building the new wheels for the tandem. Just in time for today's ride. So I'll tell you about my ride if you tell me about yours.

5:30 am ride (I get up early) 20 miles trainer, weather is for rain and ice today, outside? I think not! Try for couple more hours later or maybe drag out the mtb for some fun.

Woke up. It was pouring rain and my work shift didn't end until midnight last night.

So I went back to sleep.

Went out yesterday. Across Central Park to the Upper Westside and then down the Westside bike path to the World Trade Center. Lots of Salt on the road so I need to clean my bike I think.

20mi commute to work. Not sure where the cars went, but I think I saw maybe 4 the entire way in. I'm sure they'll be more on the way home.

No riding again this weekend. I am on call at work once again, but tomorrow I am off. I am planning on putting in about 80 miles in the morning. The weather will probably be like today in the mid 70s with clear sunny skies. Again...........

It's still there, just in the form of a giant hole in the ground surrounded by construction stuff.

Finals this week, did 1:40 yesterday to keep myself sane.

It was looking like thunderstorms today, and Sunny & 80F sat so I went a little harder than planned. Trying to squeeze in an hr or two today.

FYI, I am looking for someone to keep these types of threads going after the New Year, If anyone is interested please let me know. I will still be here to post, just that there are too many new things to keep up with in the coming year so this thread unfortunately is not high on the priority list.

Going to do 30 today on the tandem, supposed to be 67 today 76 tomorow here in Charlotte, amazing weather for the middle of December. Although we, like the rest of the southeast could use some rain. 100% of the state in now in extreme drought conditions.

20 miles along A1A. Beautiful out today. But windy. I swear the wind was changing to blow in my face every time I made a turn.

Nyack Ride, 34F at kickoff. At one point I look down at the speedo on the flats and we're going 31.5mph. Those idiots never slow down. Got my redline pegged once for a minute or two, otherwise sat in comfortably til the end. Don't ask me about the finish, it was marred by some cranky old dude who literally sat in his station wagon leaning on his horn for the last 2+ minutes. Very distracting.

This MTB thing is sounding better to me all the time. No cranky old cagers in the woods. Just me and my dog Sam chasing me up and down Goosepond Mtn. for 8 or 9 miles. After the snow melts of course.

Short recovery ride. Yesterday's ride in 25mph winds was the tour of pain.
