Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike Shops in Vegas?

I'm in Vegas for a couple of days. Are there any good bike shops I can check out?

Only if 'bike' is a euphamism for 'hooker'.

It is nice to see you need to pay for women but that is not what I'm looking for. I would think you could figure that out because I'm in the land of sin and I'm looking for bicycle shops.

Rent a mountain bike from All Mountain Cyclery in Boulder City, and go riding at www.BootlegCanyon.org .

...and don't post another person's girlfriend online.

I was in Vegas about a year ago and before I went, I did an inquiry like yours on another bike forum. Several people said that Pro Cyclery was the best bike shop in Vegas so I paid them a visit. I was disappointed. The store was very small and the selection wasn't very good. Their shop has a "virtual tour" : https://www.procyclery.com/virtualtour.htm
The racks look full in the website pictures but were only half filled when I visited. They had some nice stuff, just not a whole lot of it. Good luck.

I've been to 7 different bike shops here (Vegas). I would recommend Las Vegas Cyclery on West Charleston & Cimarron. They seem to have a decent selection and prompt service. Or in the Henderson area, JT's Bicycle shop. But truthfully, as far as I know, Vegas is lacking in a "good" bike shop that offers both competent service and a wide selection.

Try McGhie's at 4035 South Fort Apache. The building is huge and brand new with a great selection.

They have the best shop in Vegas during the summer, but once the snow flies it becomes a ski shop too. Their old location on W.Sahara got very crowded.

I'll throw in a nod for McGhie's, but they have transitioned over to Snowboarding. There is still a lot of cycling gear, but not as much as in the spring/summer.

IMHO, Peloton Sports is by far the best shop in Las Vegas in terms of knowledgable staff. The staff are actually the owners and ride a lot themselves. The only downside is they mainly carry Trek.

Do one of the mtn or road tours with Escape Adventures at Las Vegas Cyclery. I did one of their guided mtn bike tours in the red rocks area west of town and it was amazing. You can also rent a road bike to ride on the roads in that area. Bootleg Canyon is an amazing place if you've got good mtn biking skills. Lot's of vertical terrain and some terrain park bits.
