calfee question
A guy in the local tri club has a 2001 Calfee Tetra-tri frame and fork forsale. Im up in the air about getting this. Would this be a good bike for road riding or is it more of a keep in the garage untill you do a tri race? My wife and I are new to tri's but also do some road races through the year like corprate cup cycles and a handfull of others. More of them I guess I would say are not "races" no 1st 2nd 3rd places. Just people getting together to ride. Ive been using a very old hy-brid bike, thats why im looking at getting a better bike. The guy wants 500.00 for it. Ive also been looking at the 2008 Felt F3 and a 2003cervelo dual.

My riding buddy has a Calfee Luna as his everyday bike and loves it. I wouldn't hesitate using it regularly.

FYI, USCF mass-start races cannot have aero-bars. Otherwise you're fine.

Two of my friends have Calfees and both love them. 500 is a good price and Calfees are beautiful. However if you can test ride the Felt or Cervelo give them a try.

I ride a 2001 Calfee Tetra and, it is a great bike. Not the "Tri" version though. I'm still looking for a second bike but, nothing yet tickles my fancy like this one.

I talked to calfee last night and told them about what I wanted and such. He said this frame would be to much forward. I had neck surgery 2 years ago and still bugs me sometimes. Does this make sense?

Yes. My question was going to be the frame geometry, and it sounds like the guy at Calfee answered that. Tri Geometry (like a 78 degree seat tube) is not ideal for a good handling comfortable road bike.
You'd be better served by a road bike frame even if it you pay a few dollars more.
