Easton EC90's Vs. Zipps

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Easton EC90's Vs. Zipps

Which is better and why? Are Zipps worth the extra $$$? The New Easton's look pretty sweet. Help!

are you a pro or just have deep pockets? Do you race or just ride for fun? What wheelset are you currently running?

Zipps are "bling"....expensive as hell and probably give a marginal performance improvement. Do you have $2k to thrown down to make your bike look more leet or are good enough where you will actually "feel" that marginal improvement?

How much do you weigh and which Easton's are you looking at? The SL or the SLX? The SL are around 60grams more than the SLX's, have a higher spoke count and are stronger if you are a heavier rider but Easton would never tell me what their definition of "heavier" is. Either wheel is lighter so it will probably spin up faster and might be better on long climbs and is like what? $1400 less?

I mean seriously...I've seen plenty of Zipp wheels lately but honestly....I don't see the point unless you have very deep pockets. Those high profile wheels don't really start kicking in until higher speed anyway.

They can talk about dimples, negative drag, high profiles and all other things but $1400 difference.....are they $1400 BETTER?

Zipps are a hot topic so I'm sure someone will praise them and say the price is worth it.

If you need to compensate for what's between your legs, get the Zipps. If not get the Eastons

.
Best on line price I saw for Easton EC 90 SL's in a quick on line search was $1599, so you're taliking a $300-400 price difference, not $1400.

dang...I missed the wheelset....EA vs EC.....

In that case....https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=5320

I would personally get those.

EC90s vs Zipps....man...either one is a bunch of change.

Easton EC-90s are Zipp 404 rims, with the Easton/Velomax hub. If you like their hub, save yourself the $400.

For what it's worth, the new Eastons are not our rims; they are now made in Easton's Chinese facility.
