sprinters are great tires. I mean especially if you actually ride the bike.

the prince carbon up close is crazy 1k weave!!

Shimano on this frameset is not a good move. Zipp is not a good move either

Bora Ultra on this frame set would be much better

tubular as well. The thread is called " Maximum Bling"

FSA on this framset has to go.

this is how this bike should look.

Nice bike, but damn those Piny seatstays/forks are ugly.

didn't you point out this was "maximum" bling? If you have a fancy set of race wheels, you should use a fancy set of race tires. No exceptions.

I'll share my secret on looking fast. Ride the MUPs during the week. You have only a handful of overweight older folks on beach cruisers and a few joggers, so you are certain to pass everyone so you feel as fast as you look.

haha the beach road which is part of my usual weekend ride is like that, lots of people on cruisers, lots of fat people going at 10mph

NOTE: I'm not stating this I'm asking this.....

Can an American brand be blingy???? If Trek is not blingy can any Cervelo or Giant be blingy? Does the components make a bike blingy or the wheels if the frame is not.....? Does a Euro frame = blingy even if it's made in the far east? ........

BHBiker 12-16-07 03:02 AM

CERVELO SLC SL on full Record with Bora Ultras...

While not a huge deduction I'm penalizing -10 points, house brand seatposts and stems are a true no no when "maximizing" bling on an italian steed. Where"s the ITM, DEDA ?

AlexTaylor 12-16-07 11:44 AM

And where, pray tell, are the Nokon cables?

Not a patch on my extreme power I tell thee...

Cervelo
Orbea Orca
Look 595
Colnago

Any other suggestions? Shoes? Jerseys? Helmets?

Depends on who you want to look good for.

I think these are the only components that match the 1k weave.

a trek carries about as much bling as a ford taurus.

I think a prerequisite is panache. if the bike has none then there is no bling.

Cervelo's have none. altho the SLC-SL is a mighty fine steed I don't see it as bling. just a racing bike.

anybody agree / disagree?

this is blings purest form..

Agreed, whoever thinks Cervelo are blingy got owned by their marketing.

The following list is what I considered bling:

Handmade Steels (Vanilla, Richard Sachs)
Calfee
Colnago
Crumpton
De Rosa (some of their bikes are damn ugly)
Look
Parlees
Pinarello
Storck
Time

For those who think BMC, Cervelos, Orbeas are bling, they're not, they are just racing bikes.

We are talkin' max bling not OCP. Sorry but ITM 101's are still cooler.

0 deductions on that. Bravo.

Cervelos are bling.

Cervelos are not bling. Is the Soloist Aluminum bling? No. R3 bling? No. I see those way too often.
Soloist Carbon with Zipp 404s bling? No. Nice job there though, replicating the exact same style as team CSC. How original. Might as well buy a Trek Madone with Bontrager Aeolus and be decked out in Discovery kits (or the future Astana kits).

Saying Cervelos are bling is equivalent of saying Scotts are bling. They are not bling. Nice bikes, but not bling.

I have nothing against Cervelo, and I certainly wouldn't mind owning one, but they are not bling, and everyone should stop considering them bling.

The_Convert 12-16-07 05:58 PM

SLC-SL is bling. P3 is bling. P2C can be bling. New Trek Madone is ***gasp*** bling.

Bling does not mean euro, it doesn't mean classy, and it doesn't necessarily mean rare. It means showy and expensive and something you could put a platinum chain around the top tube of and hang on your neck.

eyemage 12-16-07 06:51 PM

Webster: flashy jewelry worn especially as an indication of wealth; broadly : expensive and ostentatious possessions

Encarta: rich: having or displaying ostentatious material wealth

Urban dictionary: n. synonym for expensive, often flashy jewelry sported mostly by African American hip-hop artists and middle class Caucasian adolescents.

patentcad 12-16-07 06:58 PM

This is as much bling as I'll ever have. Six13 with PowerTap SL/Zipp 404 rear.

+1 flash,...expensive, over the top for the occassional rider/racer on club level races....that can certainly qualify as bling....

Where do you draw the line?

All four of those are raced on just like Cervelo or BMC. I understand it depends on the model exact model, but most of them are pretty similar in terms of line-up and what they offer.

Rabobank, Credit Agricole, Caisse D'Epargne, QuickStep and Bouygues Telecom, etc.

save10 12-17-07 12:34 AM

This is the first thread that actually makes sense. There is nothing wrong with having or wanting to have the nicest looking bike regardless of ability.

I don't understand what about Look would be considered Bling, if you dont' condsider BMC or Cervelo to be.

Efficient and functional maybe but not "bling"

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...c_0037comp.jpg

That honour goes to Rad's Chrome Pinarello.

agilis 12-17-07 08:43 AM

Bling IS in the eye of the beholder. To me my titanium bike is bling. I built it piece by piece, exactly how I wanted it. It is silver, black, and white... understated, elegant, minimalistic, clean, and to me... bling. My wife refers to her diamond ring as bling... and it's not from Europe, and has no bold colors.

AlexTaylor 12-17-07 08:48 AM

Bling to me is a loud looking bike with dob-off decals, shouting "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!"

Such as that (very nice indeed) pinarello with the bora ultras...
