Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Women's are often narrower.

The shoes I buy come in Grey and Red in the Men's version, and Grey and Red in the Women's version ... big variety in color there!

The ones in the picture you included look like mens because of their width.

Womens shoes tend to be narrower than mens models and have less volume in the heel and toe area's. If you have slender mens feet then womens shoes may fit you. Otherwise they are likely to be too tight.

A women's size nine is not the same size as a man's sixe nine. Guy's shoes are about, depending on the maufacturer, two sizes larger for the same "size"...so if a woman wore a 9 and wanted a darker show she could try a guy's 7. Generally. But the posters hit the other issue, width. Especially in the heel.

Women's shoes generally come with a more pointy toe and a higher heel.

Whether or not there is a difference is sizes between womens and mens depends on the sizing system used. If using the Euro sizing system (36,38, ...... 46,47) there is NO difference in size(length). If using a different sizing system then there usualy is a difference.

Buy whichever fits. I wear men's shoes because my feet are virtually square (well, pretty wide anyway), and women's shoes squeeze my toes and often don't come in large enough sizes anyway. I see no earthly reason why a man with narrow feet couldn't buy women's shoes if they fit better.

My wife has pretty normal feet for a woman, but she used to buy men's shoes back when women's were rarely available. (she's been riding 26 years)

I also see no reason why a man shouldn't buy women's shoes if they fit and the style, well, you know, not that there's anything wrong with that. .

Yup, me too. My first two pair of cycling shoes were men's.

If there's light blue anywhere on the shoe...it's probably a women's shoe. This, of course is only valid for non-pro/sponsored riders.

If men need narrow shoes and don't want to wear women's, they can try real Italian brands that are made for the home market. Italian feet are on average narrower than American.

Typically, a woman's "medium" width is a B and narrow is AA,
A men's medium width is a D and narrow is B.

A men's shoe that is the same length as a ladies shoe will be the equivalent of a wide lady's shoe.

Under the old American system, the difference between a woman's shoe and man's shoe of the same length was 1 size.
So a men's 8 would be the same length as a woman's 9. You will find this varies though.

I used to work in a shoe store after I got out of high school.

European sizes that have the same length number *should* be about the same length for men or women.

I'm not sure how they do widths there, Cycling shoes seem to sometimes be available in N, M and W.

Shoe sizes vary so much even from one manufacturer it makes sense to try them on before buying, regardless of the numbers or gender...

There are many differences about shoes between men and women, like
1. The shape of the Shoe
2. Q-Angle
3. Effect of Weight
4. Personal Fit
5. Shoe Styles
6. Decorative Additions
If you need to know more about the different types of shoes, refer here
