Best Tunes for Indoor Workouts

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Two words - Led Zeppelin. Place the entire studio recordings on shuffle, and match cadence to each song.

Music gets boring after 10-15 minutes so I'll be watching Netflix movies.

But if you really want to listen to music, go to Pandora and create "radio stations" you like. I have 18 stations that I play in the QiickMix mode for a little variety.

Pretty Blue - Danny Gatton
THe Simpsons - Danny Gatton
Gearheads - Danny Gatton
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
Zap - Eric Johnson
Servitude - Fishbone
What is Hip - Gov't Mule (Or Tower of Power)
Mr Brownstone - Guns N Roses
Violent & Funky - Infectious Grooves
Reckoning Day - Megadeth
Jerry Was a Race Car Driver - Primus
Angle of Death - Slayer
40 Miles to Vegas - Southern Culture on the Skids
What Time is It? - Spin Doctors
Couldnt Stand the Weather - SRV
Wham - SRV
Baby's Liquor'd Up - The Beat Farmers
Block Rocking Beats - The Chemical Brothers
London Calling - The Clash
Overpowered By Funk - The Clash
Keep On Loving Me Baby - The Paladins
Telephone Song - The Vaughan Brothers
Prison Sex - Tool
Atomic Punk - Van Halen
Nowhere to Run - Ozzy and some rappers (from the South Park Chef Aid CD)

The 2007 ITV TdF theme music is pretty good. The guy who organises our club turbo sessions puts it on every workout CD he makes.

I need visual stimulation as well as audible. Sitcoms work. So does football.

Not music. I watch old kick ass TV shows when I exercise. Something I've seen before and don't have to pay too close an attention to; it'd be distracting otherwise.

I love working out while watching Jessica Alba kick ass on Dark Angel.

Last week I put on Neil Young's Weld CD and rode on the trainer for the length of it -- ended up being a good choice.

My problem would be puking every time they showed another one of the Pontiac Asstecs.

I listen to podcasts, and a lot of audiobooks. But if you want music, here's some stuff that will get your blood flowing. I usually listen to music when I run, but I get kind of tired of it on long rides.

Thrice: The Artist in the Ambulance (the album)
AFI: pretty much anything by them will get you going, particularly Black Sails and Shut Your Mouth
Alexisonfire: Alexisonfire
Senses Fail: Let It Unfold You
Thursday: War All The Time and Full Collapse
Story of the Year: Page Avenue
Alkaline Trio: Maybe I'll Catch Fire
Bad Religion: All
H2O: Faster Than The World (one of the greatest albums of all time)
Midtown: Anything (they have soft and hard, so you can pick individual songs)
No Use For A Name: Making Friends
7 Seconds: All
Taking Back Sunday: All
Strung Out: Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues and Twisted By Design
Ten Foot Pole: All (Unleashed)
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes: All

I like watching TV, but I can't ever hear it, and I don't have an iPod or anything to listen. However, when I do put the CD player on, I like stuff like:

Atreyu
The Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Mars Volta
Nine Inch Nails
The Prodigy
Rammstein
Fatboy Slim
The Crystal Method
The Alchemist
The Ghetto Boys
Shooter and Waylon Jennings
Hank Williams III
Ted Nugent
Tool
Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Armin Van Buuren
P-Funk
Ween

& pretty much anything that rocks and wants me to bob my head for hours and play with glow-sticks
