Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lemond steel with Campy?

I have a Lemond Zurich triple with Shimano Ultegra and I really enjoy the ride. I prefer Campy to Shimano and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if any Lemond steel bikes, say in the last 10 or 12 years or so, came with Campy as standard build. I am also interested in a triple or a compact crank as I bike in the mountains. The only model I have seen is the 2005 Sarthe which came with Veloce, but I havent been able to find one yet. I have been looking and every model I have seen for sale has Shimano. Thanks for any info!

Rad has a Tete with Record. I can't think of any more of their line spec'd with Campy. Why not just re-fit whatever frame you wish?

The 98 Maillot Jaune came with Chorus. Wild purple paint job that year that I happen to like.

This was my '98 Maillot Jaune. Prior to this configuration, I had a full ultegra build on it.

The Tete will have Record on it. Brand new and over 3 years old.

I've had several Lemonds and see no reason why Campy wouldn't be great on them. Have at it.

Why does it matter. OEM spec'ed Campy bikes are rare in the US (especially low to mid price range). Just go out and get a new group and rebuild the bike

My Maillot Jaune has Chorus but it's a frame I bought from eBay and built up. As I recall, the seller had Campy on it before he sold. I don't know if it was specced that way or he had built it up as well.

+1 - I have finished building my first bike some weeks ago and found it educational and rewarding.

My 05 Buenos Aires came with Veloce. It was a carbon/steel mix though.

Just sell the Ultegra group and wheels. Centaur build kits are very cheap now.
