Blackburn trainer
Hey Folks,
As I begin my first winter season in training I have decided I must purchase a trainer being in Boston. I was looking at the Blackburn TrakStand Ultra. Does anyone have any expierence with this? pros and cons. Also any imput on trainers in general is much appreciated. I know there have been many posts on this, so I am sorry if I am being redundant.
Thanks for your input. Happy Holidays to all!!

I have a Cycleops Fluid 2 and I like it alot...super quick and easy to get the bike in place...pretty quiet, and it gives me a good solid workout as well.

I have a Nashbar fluid trainer. It seems pretty quiet and provides enough resistance for my needs.
I did try a Kinetic Rock n Roll trainer at a local shop while I was trying out some shoes, it was really nice (it will rock back and forth to simulate real ride feel), but also very expensive and more trainer than I will ever need.

The Blackburn Trackstand Ultra resistance unit is based on the 1up design ( https://www.1upusa.com/bike_trainer.html ), but may not be manufactured as well as the 1up version (based on anonymous reviews / rumors). I have been using a 1up for several months, and really like it so far. The price is about the same, so i'm not aware of any reason to buy the Blackburn over the 1up, other than availability at resellers (the 1up is only available direct).

Have the trainer you seek and like it alot. Quiet, feels more like you are actually on the road than other trainers I have used, easy to adjust. Seems well made. For the minus side, changing the resistance requires taking it apart and adding little balls, expensive. I have not had to change the resistance just shift gears on the bike to get more resistance. Have used the Minoura Mag and the Blackburn beats it hands down at twice the retail price so you get what you pay for.
