Orange Merckx

I have been searching and searching the road forum for an orange Merckx that somebody posted a few weeks ago. Gorgeous bike, it looked like a recently manufactured frame, I'm fairly positive that its not the classic Merckx steel frame of the 70s anyways, this was a final try after using the search function for a little while. Anybody remember it?

one of these? If so, it's a MX Leader.
As far as I know they were still making them a couple of years ago.
They're steel, and pretty heavy :)

Probably not this one, huh? I call it the Crayola bike.

Haha, good name for it. Nice bike though. It was a full solid orange frame w/o many decals. I guess its possible that I have mistaken the brand. I checked the merckx website with no luck. I may be mistaking it for this frame:

The fact that you confused a Marinoni with a Molteni Merckx leads me to believe that you should have all of your bikes taken away, for their own prtection.:p

The Molteni edition MX Leaders were last produced in limited numbers in 2003-2004 time frame. For 2005 they did a replica Motorola MX Leader. That was the last year for the MX Leader because they used up all of the custom lugs and tubesets they had in stock. I have one of the 04 MX Leaders in Molteni livery and love it. Even though it weighs a bit, unless it is a pretty hilly ride, I don't notice the weight because the ride is so sweet.

Check out GVH Bikes.com, they have a Merckx leader and most high end steel frames. Great site.

I think I confused the two because there were a bunch of merckx bikes on the thread anyways....:p

The Merckx Leader is not the same frame as the MX Leader. The Leader at GVH is made from Easton Aluminum. The MX Leader was made with Columbus Max tubing custom drawn to Eddy Merckx's specs.

If it ain't steel, it ain't a Molteni bike...

My Corsa 0.1 custom with correct Molteni paint and decals. Carbon fork is on it because the UPS man destroyed the steel fork.

De Rosa also had a similar one a couple of years ago
