Anything wrong with Specialized Hubs?

Found some cheap on ebay.

Or this "no name hub"

Also, quite a few cheap mtb hubs like this one.

I was going to build up a front wheel with a Mavic Open Sport rim. Don't want to invest a lot of money. It's for commuting (who am I kidding, all of my riding is commuting).

I myself would be leary of the no name but at that price if it is crap you are still out nothing. Do not know who make the specialized branded hub but I would not hesitate to use it. The XT shimano hub is a great choice high quality hub only 1 step down from xtr in their mountain line. I have them on my mountain bike.

Nashbar has some really cheap Shimano and Campy front hubs right now.

Have yet to find an in-house hub or wheel that I like. Far better off getting a respectable hub like a Shimano 105 and starting from there.

I built two wheels with specialized front hubs, they are absolutely fine. I don't know why there are so many floating around out there, but they're good quality and never more than 12 bucks. I wouldn't use the no-name one, because for a few dollars more, you can get the specialized.

Shimano LX and XT hubs (front and rear) are some of the best deals out there. Crazy cheap for good quality Shimano. The non-disk brake ones got cheap when disk brakes became standard for mtn bikes.

Nashbar's also got Ultegra front hubs for 19.99 right now. And Campy Record for 49.99!

Hi,

Not all are fugly. Some are fairly normal:

For the OP, Specialized sells Roval wheels.
