Does anyone on these forums have the pleasure of riding in New Jersey?
If so, anyone ever been through a town named Cranford?

No. Riding in New Jersey is bad. At least where I am. Too much traffic and no shoulder, not to mention the debris on the side of the road.

I lived in Bergen County half my life. I must confess to riding up into Rockland most days. But I'm a Jersey Boy. NJ RULES.

Nice town, some decent bike paths, Cranford Bike Shop has a strong group ride from that shop...Owner is a nice guy.
Head for the Watchung reservation and beyond for more interesting riding, less traffic and some moderate climbs.

I ride through Cranford on all of my rides that start at my front door, as I try to get out of Union County as quickly as possible and head over the Watchung Reservation into Somerset & Hunterdon counties.
And take botto's advice, use the regional forum next time.

Morris County is nice. Roads are clean, traffic is moderate except at rush hour, and drivers are usually nice.

I like to do loops around the Garden State Mall for my TT training. Especially during the Christmas holiday season. Paramus all the way.

I think the Ikea in Paramus is closed on Sundays, not as big as the GS Mall, but not as deadly either.

Island Beach State Park (20 round trip) is all i've got locally (SSH), once I get my bike i'll head up 35, probably gunna be pretty dangerous though. Or i'll take a 40+ ride through toms river/bayville with some friends. Can't wait to hit some hills up north.

Mercer County here...jus6t moved back from Burlington. There are more than a few nice roads around here once you get out of the Trenton area. Areas such as Hopewell, Ewing, Titusville and out to Flemington (Hunterdon Co.) can have some lovely riding.
Cheers,
Brian

What's "up north" to you? I can think of great hills up north in Sussex County, but then, from where you are, up north might mean the Atlantic Highlands, which also have some great hills, although not as much elevation...

I have family in Burlington County...there's some nice riding out there...although what you guys seem to call "hills" are pretty much just bumps in the road..
