Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gatorskins were design specifically for puncture/flat protection.

gatorskin

"Suberb choice for a rider who perfers a durable tire without losing the suppleness of a tubular. Like its cousin, the Spinter 250, it shares the same proven tread pattern, rubber coumpound and excels in all disiplines - road racing, crits and pave. The added component of Gatorskin makes this tire one of the most durable tubulars ever made - Gatorskin is Continental's patented polyamide layer that provides excellent sidewall protection without adding extra weight or compromising supple ride quality. 3 plies of 60tpi casing material for a combo of 180tpi worth of protection."

gp4000

"Continental GP4000 features Vectran fabrics that are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid. It is five times as strong as steel and weighs less than a nylon double breaker. These are the new and improved GP3000 Tires! All GP4000 tires feature black sidewalls and a new anti-cracking formula to prevent UV light from damaging the compound and increase the mileage performance."

on reflection, sounds like bs. I ride the gatorskins and have never flated.

thanks, the reason I asked is that after about 6 months of relative puncture free rides with my sprinter tubulars, I had a puncture last saturday that even that worthless Pit Stop did not fix. Now I am looking at the Gatorskin Sprinter Tubular to at least give me more protection. The again a puncture is a puncture I suppose...its all about luck.
