Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help with a build

So i got a new carbon frame to replace my old worn out aluminum rather than buying a new bike. I wanted carbon this time but I am now stuck with putting 8 speed on my Orbea Opal frame until i get some more cash to throw SRAM rival or Force on it. When i do decide to get the SRAM RIVAL or Force I was thinking about just getting the Force shifters with rival derailleur and all other drive train rival as well. I was wondering if anyone knew of any builds done like this and how it worked out. The Force shifters would just be for the carbon look as i know they do not take off too much weight overall and I was also thinking of using a Force crankset maybe some input on this too, do they last long? Has anyone had one crack on them?

All of SRAM's parts are interchangable between the whole line so what you are thinking of doing is not uncommon. Go for Red shifters and rival everything else if you are on a budget. You can do the force shifters but the red shifters have additional trim which is nice.
