Is there "one book" every cyclist should have?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is there "one book" every cyclist should have?

Hi,

I'm getting more and more into road biking, and I've been learning how to tune, clean, and fit according to the old books. With all the new changes though, STI, indexed, new materials and such, is there a single book that covers cleaning, fitting, care and other related things? Or are the changes small enough that I can just keep reading Glenns manual?

Thanks

For repair in particular, get Zinn & The Art of Road Bike Maintenance. Fitting I'm not so sure of... plus the park tools site has cleaning and repair info as well. Sheldon Brown is also a good resource online.

The Park Tool book is very good if you want something in print. Also, Branford bike online has some good tuning tips (especially for Campagnolo components).

Zinn's Cycling Primer. It's not a beginner book, but Lennard conveying the wisdom he was given by his co-racers, coaches, trainers, colleagues, and other mentors over his career in racing and building bikes. Not as good a repair book as Art of Road Bike Maintenance, nor a training manual along the lines of Friel's Handbook, but an unmatched collection of bits of knowledge, especially (IMHO) in sizing and fitting. A decent primer in racing and peloton technique, as well!

Then you'll want to skip the part in Lance's book where he says:
