Yeah, that's just what dumbasses who move from Ohio to Manhattan tell themselves to feel less stupid about paying $3k a month to live in a closet.

Turns out I won't be in Nyack this weekend but will be up there next. So my riding delemma is this: do I join Pcad's fast group ride and potentially get shelled off the back, or do I ride solo up to Bear Mountain and get in some early season good climbing?

Yes, you do appear to be a complete idiot. NY doesn't need more of those. But you'd fit right in on the Nyack Ride, and BF is the right place for you.

Ask any real NYC resident and they will feel the same. No need to call me an idiot as you know nothing about me other than posts on this site.
I dont know where you get off thinking your all high and mighty because you do some lame ride in the f'n boondocks of upstate NY.

You are one angry NYC bike weenie. You were the one causing all those crashes in the Central Park vets races last March weren't you? Come on, we're all friends and fellow weenies here, you can 'fess up.

"New York City comprises five boroughs, each of which is coextensive with a county: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. With over 8.2 million residents within an area of 322 square miles (830 km²), New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States.[3][4][5]"
The fact that you can even make such a statement proves that you are definitley not from around here originally. You're a transplant from from some hick back country farm town -- and now consider yourself more "new yorker" than the rest of us.

New York City = Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island.
I was born and raised in NYC. I've lived in Queens my entire life (other than my college years). Does this make me less of a New Yorker than those that live in Manhattan?

I actually spend most of my time riding either in Manhattan, Wash DC or Arizona. I do the Hudson Trailway though often in the summer.
It's funny about this thread, I spend so much time in NYC, I just post when there's a thread about the city - a lot of great riding (and beers) there!

Manhattan elitism flies in the face of everything that makes NY City so great. I was born in Manhattan. I went to NYU. I've lived around NY my whole life. Anyone that thinks like djb would certainly be considered a pinhead by anyone I would ever associate with.
Newsflash for djb: most of the firemen and cops who DIED on 9/11 trying to save Manhattanites in the WTC were probably outer borough residents. And anyone who is not an idiot understands it's one city, with FIVE boroughs.

I used to be a bit pinheadish in my early years here. Lived in Manhattan for about 12 years and thought only Manhattan mattered (I'm a transplant). Then I moved to Brooklyn before that became the hipster destination that it has become. Then, 2 years ago, tried Forest Hills, Queens. Certainly a different place and feel, but I have long ago lost that Manhattan-centric elitism. Nice to own a real house in NYC!

I moved from nowhere IL to Manhattan (for four years) and while I enjoyed living in Manhattan (and prefer it to the other boroughs), I never developed an idiotic snobbish attitude about being a "true" New Yorker. Though I am a certified idiot and bonafide snob, even I am not ******** enough to say that. Manhattan has its fair share of idiots.

Well, since we are sharing our NYC stories....I grew up in the Bronx, lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Spanish Harlem, Manhattan and now Astoria, Queens. Only one left is Staten Island, but I think I'll pass on that one.

You are a "real" resident of New York COUNTY if you live in Manhattan. I find the distinction is the most important to transplants to NYC anyhow...
