Going Crazy
I guess I'm just making this post so some one can make me feel a little better, maybe. I didn't get in the ride time this week I would have liked. Only about 11:56 hours. And I had just had a rest week of 8:13 week before last. I did manage to get in a 112 mile ride yesterday with about 65 other people and a few pro's and a lot of Cat 1 and 2's. But I hear all these other guys that I've known for a while and there talking about how there doing 20 or 23 hours a week now and the most I've done is 17 so far. I will likely have a chance to compete in the Tour of Pennsylvania this year so its not like I'm just some Cat5, I need to take this stuff seriously. Is it to late for me to do more hours, like next week? is 15, 14, 16 maybe 17 hours enough?

I use the longest race + 10% time for base training, as I do my base training by myself and don't really like doing solo rides more than three hours or so. I keep the hours down and throw in some tempo rides to mix it up a bit and compensate for the lack of properly long base rides. Seems to be working ok so far ;) |
Very few non pro riders do more than 16 hours per week. I know of several top CAT 1/2 and a Masters world champ that does under 14 per week.
