The heat around the corner?
 

Well, today I had the day off, so I waited until about 4PM to go for a ride. Had to watch TV and sit around the house you know. I went on one of my usual loops, the 62 miler. The weather was very pleasant today. Actually, it was gorgeous out. Temps in the high 70's all day.

I put on my lights on the bike because I figured it would get dark by the half way point. I did not take my glasses on as it was not bright sunny out. I was going to take my clears, but I forgot. The first thing I noticed in the first mile, was the large number of bugs in the air. I thought it was weird because there has not been any bugs out for weeks due to being too cold of course. The entire ride I was dodging bugs trying to hit my eyes like torpedoes, but I think I gained a 1/2 Lb in good protein by the end of the ride!! Had this being summer, I would not think too much of it.

I think this is the first sign the heat in the air is just around the corner. Of course, to us down in South Florida the heat has been there all along. You poor souls in the frozen tundra mother land may have a bit of hope!!!!

Yep, waiting...

So far there's been no corners here. Just a big continuous circle of rain.

Summers here farther south. It was 87 yesterday with very high humidity, its 70 now at 7:00a with fog. Not looking forward to summer and losing 5-8lbs of water every time I ride.

I am enjoying the cool (75) weather while I can.
On the weekends it is nice to not have to start the ride at 6 am to beat the heat!

I can't wait for the heat to get here. That also means that it gets dark later so that I can get in longer rides after work without having to worry about throwing my lights on and really dodging cars.

I hope you all get a wonderful summer, seems to have been a very very long winter!

Here's a taster to remind you what you've been missing so long. 9am, 35 degrees, nice sea breeze, low humidity, everyone nursing Chinese New Year hangovers, so extra quite roads. Puuurfect

I remember what riding in 35 degrees was like. I used to live in Asia.

It has snowed here almost everyday for almost a month. I've never been as ready for spring as I am right now.
