could be a bent rail?

I had that happen once on a brand new saddle (Selle Italia Max Flite to be exact), took it back to the shop and got it exchanged.

ill get pics. sec. and all saddles have a universal width right?

Unless you are using an I-beam saddle (but then you wouldn't even have rails)

Well since it looks like those are carbon rails, it's safe to assume it's not actually bent.

The rail is prolly just not seated right, if you got it at a local shop, take it back, show them and they should hook you up with a new one.

Or you could try re-seating the rail yourself, but do this at you own risk, it's not gonna just bend like metal rails.

Orrr you could send it to me, I'll fix it and put it on my bike ;D

after looking at pics of the seat elswhere it looks like the rails are part of the shell, in this case the seat is just formed wrong and should be exchanged.

Though I could be wrong, it happens from time to time

What kind of saddle did you have on there previously? I believe track and BMX saddles have a narrower width

edit: the carbon isn't really flexing more than half a mm so no readjusting it

You probably just need to exchange it. Given that it has carbon rails, I would not force it in there, as I have had to with just one saddle in the past 30yrs - a selle italia too.

The saddle I put on my bike didn't fit either, but I just jammed it in there. Of course, the saddle was old and had Ti rails. I probably wouldn't force it with carbon rails. I'd take it back if possible.

With the exception of some Keirin track saddles (which are 30 mm), 44 mm is the modern standard rail width.

I think it's a selle italia trait. My selle italia pro link was wider than the standard width, but yours is narrower...

Really hard to tell.
Apparently there is a Fizik saddle that has carbon rails and does not fit certain posts.
But I haven't found any issues wi I am confused big time.

If you really like the this new saddle, you could drop by your LBS and see if any seatposts they have in stock would accomodate your saddle.
The 1 seatpost you currently have might be an odd example.

PS. Incidentally, you could also measure the distance between the rails on your new saddle and post it here.

Standard is "nominal" 44 mm center to center with 7 mm diameter rails.

I just measured the rails on my Selle Italia SLR (conveniently parked on the trainer next to my computer). I get 36 mm between rails and 7 mm rail diameter which would be 43 mm c-c. I could readily believe a 1 mm error in my ID measurement (old calipers and older eyes) so it is probably 44 mm.

Sounds like your new saddle's rail width is off standard by about 4 mm.

I'm not sure about your saddle, but my Selle Italia Flite had ovalized rails - effectively changing the width and making it so it wouldn't fit some seatpost clamps. I had this issue with a USE seatpost, so there were only three solutions: a new clamp (if you can get one for your seatpost), a new seatpost - I ended up with a Thomson and got rid of that terrible USE, or a different saddle all together.

I took off my SLR a few nights ago to adjust something because it kept making a creaking noise (figured out that it was bolted on too tight) and I had an interesting time putting it back on. I noticed that the rails were closer together than they should be, but they're ti so they moved apart enough to get into the clamp.

I hope your problem gets resolved, but this is why I wouldn't buy a saddle with carbon rails.
