Hand painting wheels? How would I do it?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You can get reflective tape that color:

I think it even comes in red.

</sarcasm>
I think airbrushing would do it. Last time I painted something like that I sanded it to prep the surface, so not too smooth and then with with an airbrush. Sadly there are no pictures. It also didn't have any spoken in at the time which eased the process of masking the spoke hole eyelets. See what user CrimsonKarter21 (sp?) has to say. That or Dr. Deltron.

Don't hand paint. That's not the smartest way to attack this.

if its hard with spokes, I'll just buy some rims n paint them first, then build it up.
time to buy an airbrush kit.

You'll spend a lot of money doing this. Although they screwed up on an order I put through a few weeks ago, www.tcpglobal.com has the best prices EVER on brushes and paints. To put it in perspective, it's like getting everything at your LBS for the price they get it at.

I think dixieart.com may have cheaper prices. I didn't check, but I'm sure they compare.
