Where do all these brands come from? Simplon, redline, etc.

Where do all these brands come from? Simplon, redline, etc.
I live near portland and I have next to no idea where these bikes come from, much less where to get them. It seems like most of the bike shops around here carry trek, giant, fuji, maybe lemond. Brands like simplon and aegis and redline that I've never heard of, are these just super-expensive bicycles nobody hears about?

You live in Portland and all you see in shops are bikes from Trek, Giant, Fuji and Lemond? Man, you need to go to some different bike shops. Most of the 'other' brands are only lacking in distribution and can often be found in shops other than the local Performance or Trek Superstore. I know PDX has a huge scene – go on https://bikeportland.org and look it up.
