I'm about the same height as you but have a slightly longer inseam. I think you and I fit the description of people who have long torsos. I ride a 58cm (C-T) and my top tube is 58cm (C-T). When I'm in my drops, my back is completely flat. My bike shop fit me on a Serotta fit cycle (or whatever it's called) and made sure I was comfortable with all the measurements, especially when I'm hunched over and gripping the drop part of the bar. I think with anything less than a 58cm (C-T) top tube, I would feel scrunched up. My handlebar is also relatively high up -- it's with 1 cm or 2 of my seat level.

When I tried the Wrench Science fit calculator, the measurements they gave me were almost exactly the same as my current bike measurements.

My (non-expert) guess would be that your current setup is a little too small (the seat tube should be 1-2cm bigger) and if you're the same height as me, your top tube should be way longer than what you currently have now (after all, all that height has to go somewhere! :) ).

I chose an American-made frame (a Co-Motion Espresso) that has exactly the right geometry for me. I don't think I'll be able to ride a European bike. (I'm not a racer and not that young anymore.)
