Just wait till ya put her on the large chain ring!!
|
So in 2 weeks I've put 400 miles on her. I'm still working on getting my fit really dialed in, but my first impressions are spectacular. I can't quite pinpoint what is so incredible about it. Maybe it is how when you get out of the saddle on a climb, the bike just takes off, probably a combo of the stiff crank-set and light weight. Or maybe it is the way I can bomb into any corner with confidence - turns and descends like a GS ski. Or maybe I just love the fact that bumps and vibrations I used to feel- have simply disappeared.
Overall, I love this bike and I could not be happier. The worst part about the bike? No more excuses :) |

Yada, Yada, Yada.....tell us about the wheels!!
|
Very, very pretty bike and fast to.
|
nice bike.
it looks sunny and warm where you are. you stink. |
Also those tires. Which ones are they? I did not like the Mondo's that came on my bike at all.
|
The tires are the Mondo Pro - they seem to be getting the job done only 1 flat in 400 miles - I'm going to be changing the tires relatively soon, so I'll let you know if I notice any difference.
As for the wheels - the star hub is probably of most interest. I can't say one way or another if the hubs make any difference except to add weight and some interesting looks :) They climb well enough coming in 1700 grams for the set. Specialized says they are much more aero, though I can't comment one way or another - The only bench mark I have for something like that is on a favorite straight shot hill of mine, I managed a new top speed by about 3-5 mph. Is it the wheels? I don't know, maybe it is the new bearings. Compared to my old, old mavics they are awesome, but then again just about anything made in this decade would feel awesome compared to my old mavics :) |
I flatted a lot with my Specialized tires as well. I can recommend the Pro 3 Race. Got them off Ebay and like them a lot.
|
So nice have fun be safe!
|
I just ordered mine last night. Team deals are great, it will arrive later this week. I did talk to the folks at Specialized about the wheels and they said they are more aero because the spokes are out of the wind. We shall see. The new star wheels are supposed to be much improved over the original version, and a life time warranty is always nice.;)

People that anthromorphize their bikes as 'she' are very disturbing.

I think it's how light it feels now that you don't have all that cash weighing you down :) This is an awesome bike. Congrats! |

That's because no one wants to say I pounded "him" as hard as I could for as long as I could go.

Only one thing. Those wheels do not match the frame AT ALL!!! Can you take all the stickers of them?

Those wheels are pretty nice. Look at them from the front and notice how little you actually see. The downfall obviously is crosswind. And with the shorter spokes, it'll be a rougher ride.... but definitely stiff. Hidden nipples give it a nice clean look too. I have the Tarmac Expert and absolutely love it. I didn't have the extra cash for the Pro, but I'll get the '09 when it comes out.

That S-Works Carbon Crankset is the lightest that will work with a Quarq powermeter.

It mostly stems from our language itself - in romance languages (those derived from latin) objects with no gender are assigned a gender. For instance boats are assigned a feminine gender and are referred to as 'she'. Bicycle's are exactly the same as boats; they have taken on feminine form due to their gender assigned to them by the respective language. In some languages, a bicycle, or a boat, would not be considered 'she'.
