New TT frame has arrived

New to me anyway. Sold my soloist and bought this TT frame from a Teammate who only had 5 or 6 TT's on it. 9.9/10 condition. Full Carbon everything, weight 4.7 lbs as it is in the picture. It will be nice to have a "real" TT bike now and not have to share duty like I was. Website for full info: http://www.element6bikes.com/

Paid 700. New they are just under 900 shipped.

Now for the pics.

Same as Pedal Force. Element Six looks like another Pedal Force type company with same frames from ADK.

Nice to know Cadel rode that frame pretty well in the Tour last year.

I like it, good score

prendrefeu 02-13-08 10:57 AM

Congratulations; now assemble the bicycle in complete and post pictures of that.

Following, post pictures of yourself atop a podium finish.

Following, post a thread that you're turning pro.

Good luck!

I didn't know that Ridley sold generic ADK frames. Wasn't Cadel on one of these?

cslone 02-13-08 11:54 AM

Nope, looks like one of the ADK frames. Looking at the stays:

They don't sell generic frames. That is a re-badged Ridley. Cadel chose the frame... sponsors needed to have it badged for their purposes.

Yeah, and the frame is really great. Damn well aero. That was the very same frame that was used towards a win on a TT stage in last year's TdF Some people need to get their heads out of their asses when they think that just because a frame can be sourced from a 'generic' series that it's not a good frame.

Save money, have a great frame? Yes, it's easily possible. Heck, you could even win a stage on it.

If you don't think it's possible, 1986 is calling, they want their neon sunglasses and Reaganomics supporters back and you're expected.

Come on, man. I didn't say anything about it not being a good frame. The sticking point was that I was under the impression that Ridley did its own R&D and didn't license its designs to rebadgers. Moreover, the Element 6 physically isn't anything like the 2008 Ridley TT bike to which I linked above. Looking at cslone's linked photo and these photos on the Ridley website of Cadel on the 2007 Ridley TT frame, I have no problem accepting that the E6 frame is either Ridley-designed and E6-badged or was sourced off-the-rack by Ridley. Obviously if it's being used to win a Tour stage, let alone just being used in professional bike racing, it's a fine frame. I never said otherwise.

Am I under any illusion that my Fuji's al-carbon frame is some design masterpiece? Of course not. It's generic and sold by Bikes Direct and Douglas (Colorado Cyclist house brand), among others. But I still ride it and think it's perfectly great.

Still have a problem?

Heh, no. Sorry about that - I didn't mean for the 'you' in my statement to mean you (micaelmc of Killadelphia) explicitly... it was directed to the 'you' that is the pundits who dismiss these types of frames. ;)

Ah, all good then. Damn English not having different singular and plural forms of the second person pronoun!

Brands selling the above XDS Carbon-Tech manufactured TT-frameset X-B14:

http://www.xds-carbon.com/products.a...ss&class_id=17

Planet-X
Stevens Bikes
Karbona
Fondriest
Louis Garneau
CSK
Dynatek
Pedal Force
Element 6 Bikes
Velo Vie

Most probably quite a few more but it gives you an idea...

Ridley didn't make this frame available for the public. Was a blank frame labelled Ridley for Cadel's use. Would be pretty embarresing for Ridley that he use a blank frame rather than one of their own given the publicity from Cadel's TT's last year...

Congratulations on the new purchase. Please post again when you have it built up ;)
