Roof Rack

I just got a yakima roof rack off craigslist.com. I then went to the lbs to get yakima steelhead fork mount. He liked the yakima towers and cross bars but preferred the thule fork mounts. I looked at the peleton but decided to go with the echelon because it is made of steel vs plastic.
When I got home I tried to install the mount and to my suprise it would not work. After doing some research thule has a problem with the echelon tray mounting on yakima round bars, also a problem with the locks. I contacted thule and they told me a replacement head was being made to fix the problem but it would be about a month before I would get one.
What kind of fork mount do you guys use and why? I've heard that the yakima steelheads locks come off with little effort. I thought about taking the echelon back and getting a thule peleton mount. I've found 2 new steelheads for the price of what 1 would cost but I dont want to lose my bike either by falling off or being stolen.
If it matters my bike is a Orbea Orcha. My first real highend bike.

I have Yakima boots and rails, but Thule trays. That was the advice I got from these forums. I just checked the website because I can't remember the name of my trays. It looks like they don't make the one I have anymore, but the closest thing is the Peloton.

has anyone actually had a bike stolen off a rack? when do you leave your bikes in them beside to go in and get a bite to eat while on the road?

I ask because I don't yet have the locking cylinders and am apparently not as paranoid as I should be.

The locks that come with racks are really keyed safety latches and offer no viable security. If it's going to be out of sight for more than a few minutes you should use a real lock. On my roof rack I always use the lock cylinders.

Prudence isn't paranoid.
