Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is this LOOK seatpost real?

I (finally) got a professional fitting today, and it was recommended I'd replace my seatpost with a zero setback one. Searching eBay, I found this:
https://cgi.ebay.com/New-LOOK-Carbon-...QQcmdZViewItem

However, I never saw a LOOK seatpost with that kind of clamp. Does anyone here knows if this post a real NOS LOOK, or a fake?

Doesn't show on their website. May be an old model? I don't remember seeing such though.

fake.

Watch out for Asian originating Look and Ritchey products, there are lots of fakes.

https://www.lookcycle-usa.com/news/ne..._warning_.html

This warning refers to wheels and frames, but obviously other product fakes trying to use the Look branding are out there.
That seatpost might be just fine, but its not Look.

I have never seen this seapost on Bontrager website:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230222620234

Similar Asian buyer as the Look seatpost. Almost bought it, Fake too?

I don't know if it is the case for this. But, there have been cases where a product made for a certain brand failed to meet the design specs or pass quality control and was rejected. Then it finds its way onto E-bay.

$68.99, free shipping. That took all of 10 seconds on Froogle. Lazy *******.

Do you really need to save $20 so bad that you'd buy a suspect seatpost instead of one that you can trust 100%?

I know Americans are reputed to be ignorant about other countries, but I hoped BFers would be differnet. Israel, in case you didn't know, is a country in the Middle East. And while we do receive American taxpayer's money, we're not a state of the US (we have a war-mongering government of our own.)

If you had read the shipping terms on that site, they only apply to domestic orders.

They don't list intl. shipping charges, but if to believe the USPS shipping calculator, a 1 pound package shipped to Israel is about $20. 69+20 = 89 > 82.
And if to believe past experience, it'd probably end up being more than $89....

That's what I get for trying to help.

Why do people go through the effort to help and then insult the person they are helping?

Either help or don't. Helping along with belittling does nobody any good.

Lack of a smiley notwithstanding, I took it as a humorous post.

Point taken... I need to consider that before I respond.

I would just hate to see a valid thread degrade (and ironically, it seems I may be helping to degrade this one).

Just to be clear: I took bdcheung reply as a humors one; I hope he took my own reply to him in the same vain.

Just so it'd be on the record: I'm hereby approve calling me names on BF. I know I'm fat, lazy, unshaven, stupid, spelling-mistake-making piece of a ****, so I'm not going to get offended by other people calling me such :-)

Sometimes I forget which forum I am in, and things that are understood as humorous in the Road forum are often misinterpretted by people that aren't in the right frame of mind.

I recently quoted someone and changed it (with bolding) and stated Corrected afterwards in a different forum. I have found the method amusing here, so I thought I would try... I was told by the original author that I should not change his words if I quoted him... I deleted the one truly witty thing I have ever done in the forums based on that...

Since I tend to poke my nose into several forums, I sometimes get confused.

So all of you ******* ********s just leave me alone!

Go along now, there is nothing more to see here (unless the thread manages to get back on topic).

You may have to stretch the $82 by a few $... it's worth it.

Nice try, but too short (I ride a Giant TCR, and need about 24 cm of seatpost showing.)
