Amgen Tour of California Stage 2 Pics KOM

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

great pics. I'm loving those team BMC bikes this year. Looks real sharp.

The pictures sure beat the video feed quality.

Enjoy the rest of the races.

My first thought too. He looks like Sean Kelly on that bike.

Did they outlaw road painting? I have heard that some North American races have done that due to the cleanup costs, etc. Doesn't look the same with kids driveway chalk.

thanks for sharing the pics - looks like a miserable day weather wise.

I rode the Coleman Valley road from the coast on Friday, that is one bad ***** climb, I was impressed at how fast Stewart made it up that hill. Then the rest gained on him there...whew!! I was at the finish in Santa Rosa, it was nice to be able to watch the stage on the jumbo TVs while also watching the women's crit live, then see the men's finish sprint. Great party!

Is this for real? A pro cyclist in one of the biggest races in California on a poorly fitted bike?

If that were true (ie saying the picture is not distorted) either he's a giant or those are smaller than 650c wheels.

His elbows are sticking out to the sides. His fit is aggressive but probably fine.
