2007 Bianchi Eros is the ideal; any ideas on similar steel bikes?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2007 Bianchi Eros is the ideal; any ideas on similar steel bikes?

Hello,

I need to buy a new road/commuter bike for the upcoming season. I sold my five-year-old Bianchi Volpe last year and have found that the 2007 Bianchi Eros geometry is what I'm looking for. The 2007 Eros frame design @ 55cm is even better for me than my Volpe @ 55cm.

Eros info at this link:

https://www.bianchiusa.com/07_eros.html

However, looking at the bianchiusa website, it appears there are no steel road bike offerings for 2008, unless I've missed something.

So, my question: can anyone recommend a steel road bike that is similar in geo and gearing to the Bianchi Eros, same price range or cheaper?

Thanks

The whole price comparison game is a waste if you value shop. Don't buy retail. Call around to shops within a state or two away and have the bike shipped to your door. A few years back I bought a Bianchi Veloce that way and saved $600 over retail. Bianchi makes a great steel bike. Who cares if they discontinue them for '08....find a '06 or '07 with no miles for half price. You can find a close out CF 928 for almost the same price as a retail Eros. The Eros is a nice basic bike but consider buying a mid level bike at a 30-40% savings before the spring weather hits.

I believe that exact frame (material and geometry) served as the basis for all Bianchi Eros, Vigorelli, and Imola models from 2004-2007. If that's what you want, you can find one. I recently snagged an Imola for less than half the MSRP (on craigslist with maybe 500 miles on it).
