2008 KHS Flite 300 Vs. 2007 Giant OC3

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2008 KHS Flite 300 Vs. 2007 Giant OC3

Hi everyone,

I have been riding a frankestein style road bike for the past year and am about to embark on buying my first real road bike. I need something affordable, but could be raced with the addition of a couple of better components.

I have read multiple reviews on both bikes and as far as I can tell they are fairly similar...the KHS has no-name bars, stem, and seat post, as well as heavy wheels. The Giant has similar specs as well as no-name bars, stem and seat post, and from what I can tell the wheels are also heavy. the prices are as follows:
From my LBS: 2008 KHS Flite 300 ($750 before tax)
2007 Giant OC3 ($664 before tax)
For the price I don`t mind spending a little extra down the road to make one of these bikes an actual racer, albeit a beginner racer. I just need something that doesn`t weigh in at like 35lbs.

I also know that I could find a better bike for the same price used, but my LBS offers free yearly tune-ups for the life of my bike and of course there`s a warranty with new bikes, so I am a little hesitant to go the used route..plus there isn`t much in my price range that would fit me. (I`m 6`1) All the bikes I see on ebay seem to be mediums....

Sorry for the longish post but any help/experience with either of these bikes would be greatly appreciated. Or, if you have a sweet bike that you want to get rid of for around my price, and that will fit me, let me know!
Thanks everyone!
