Yawning on a group ride?

What are the rules about this?

carbonjockey 02-23-08 02:37 PM

you had better be pulling

Patriot 02-23-08 02:38 PM

I did on a couple of ocassions. Mainly just cuz it was early in the morning and I had little sleep. It had nothing to do with not working hard enough. :)

good point. If you know the route, you can make any group ride as hard as you want.

The_Cretin 02-23-08 02:57 PM

I'd be careful because you could end up having a bird fly into your mouth and then you'd look really silly.

yak 02-23-08 03:43 PM

It's better than farting

CrimsonKarter21 02-23-08 04:41 PM

I do it occasionally. Yawning is badass.

Mike V 02-23-08 06:26 PM

Why not? I did it when I read your post!

Made me laugh too. Good one.

CyLowe97 02-23-08 06:55 PM

It's best to yawn right after you win the townline sprint.

urbanknight 02-23-08 07:03 PM

If you do it in front of the right person, that person will get angry and up the pace.

carpediemracing 02-23-08 07:06 PM

One sign of nervousness is to get tired. I used to yawn all the time at the start line. Now I don't get nervous so I rarely yawn unless I'm actually tired.

Meh...I've yawned on many a early morning club ride. No biggie. It takes me a good hour or two to feel fully awake anyway...so yawning is not uncommon for me on a ride.

Dynamic 02-23-08 07:14 PM

better to yawn then to close your eyes.

rousseau 02-23-08 07:57 PM

I, for one, think it is a shocking breach of etiquette. Barring a force majeure event as its cause, there should be some sort of penalty associated with such vile behaviour. The perpetrator should be disbarred immediately.

And it should never be spoken of again.

keisatsu 02-23-08 08:11 PM

damnit, everytime I read the title of this post I yawn, like you do when somebody else yawns... :-|

Sirrobinofcoxly 02-23-08 08:27 PM

You can yawn, but bugs will get in your mouth.

PhatRoadie 02-23-08 09:05 PM

Never after labor day.

Farting is OK....as long as you're NOT pulling.

...and it's not a wet one...and you're shorts aren't too old.

chinotex 02-23-08 09:14 PM

I sing sometimes when I'm not pulling. Mostly country, but on occasion 80s big hair rock ballads. I think it's the spandex that makes me sing those. I've also had the Fine Young Cannibals stuck in my head for a while, and that one came out today.

Psimet2001 02-23-08 09:20 PM

I sing too. Elmo's world, wonder pets, Sesame Street, etc...

When it's not that it's the classical piece they play during the Cinzano 100 in Breaking Away.

...but that's only early morning and when I'm passing...."bongiorno"

Yahhhhh, da, deee, daaaaaa. Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, daaaaaaaaa, daaaa.
