Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Warren Ohio

I received an offer from a Company in Warren Oh, and was wondering, how is the road biking community there? Good roads? Good Climbs? ect. If someone from that area could help sway my decision.

All I know about Ohio is that they just got a heck of a lot of snow...

Better them than us...

It did rain like crazy here but at least I do not have to shovel rain...

That's actually where the hills start gaining momentum, about halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Don't know about the roadie/racing scene, but I would be VERY surprised if you couldn't find some good roads to bike on, asmallsol.

I've lived in many places and recently two years of it was in Cleveland. You can't say much positive about Cleveland, but they do have their bike act down.

There are rides most every weekend in Northern Ohio. https://www.ohiocycling.info/OBEC.html

The 100-mile Emerald Necklace sets a standard for any city to emulate. The Emerald Necklace is a connecting park system around the city.

Rock Creek Park was always my favorite Sunday ride.

The Tow Path National Historic site is world class, and they're lucky to have it (I know this crowd isn't into paths, but my family rode our tandem with trailer bike there). Much history. https://www.nps.gov/archive/cuva/plan...n/ohioerie.htm

The area has many organized rides ie the Sweet Corn Ride in July. All through the Amish countryside. https://www.sweetcornride.com/

THIS AREA IS A BIKING CLASS ACT!!!!!!!!!

The local shops:

Best road bikes in Cleveland are found at The Bike Authority in Broadview Heights (South side). https://www.bikeauthority.com/ Talk with Sherman. He's hands on and knows his business. The only shop in town that spoke to me about fitting. They measured me. Used a computer and some other apparatuses. I bought a CAAD 7 from them.

B & K Bike Shop in South Euclid (East side) has been there for several decades. Family run and the owner is always there. Very competent. I bought a Burley Piccolo from them. https://www.bandkbike.com/

Century Cycles has a knowledgeable staff too (many locations around the city). High-end road bikes are not their forte. One of their shops is on the Tow Path. I bought a Burley tandem from them. https://centurycycles.com/index.cfm

Eddy's is the big shop in the area. At their main store in Stow they have a few associates that know bikes. Most of their hired help know less than I do, and I don't know much. https://eddys.com/index.cfm

Hub Bub is a great store too with great knowledge on all bikes and tandems (custom too). I think they head the National Tandem Society. https://www.hubbub.com/

Don't forget Spin, which has a new location on the East side of Clevelnad (Willoughby). Most of your racing will be in the Columbus area, with a few races being somewhere between Cleveland and Columbus.
You're going to be like 3-4 counties over from me, and I'm pretty much on the Cuyahoga/Lorain county line.
I'm pretty sure that there are some really good roads around there, I used to spend some of my summers in the Amish country.

East of the city, nearish to the PA line. You'll find hills there if you want them.
