Sunny and 67F today in San Jose, California. Chance of rain on Friday.

erikvonb 03-11-08 10:11 AM

What cancelled cycling season? I haven't stopped all winter in Ottawa. 23c all the way! Mind you, there were a few days last week that I decided to stay home and shovel all day :(

Truthfully, not envious. Sunny weather all the time pisses me off.

This has been the longest winter I can ever remember. Truly and veritably, it has sucked. But I don't mind cold down to -5 degrees. Nah, it's the snow on the roads that has screwed things up. I've got 800 kms under my belt so far this year, but couldn't ride for four weeks out of the last two and a half months because of the snow on the roads.

Snow on roads is bad.

Who me worry??? I love all weather. Snow wants to stick around? We'll just keep the cross-country skies going for yet a few more weeks. :D

The March sunshine is already beginning to take its toll on the snow. Won't be long that the nay-sayers will be put back in their place and we'll be running on our summer bike set-ups. I already hear my two bikes wanting out in the backyard shed. :D

I was afraid of that.

celticfrost 03-11-08 11:38 AM

Yet another 50+ degree winter day in Denver.

Yep, and if you're in Calgary it'll be 15 degrees three months from now, too. Heh heh...

The only 50-degree day I ever experienced was in Turkey at the height of summer. It was a dry heat, though.

Is this for real. Can Canada tell its residents when they are allowed to ride a bike? I'll add that to the reasons why I would never move to Canada.

Dont let a little weather stop you.

AEO 03-11-08 01:02 PM

you sure that wasn't a warning to motorists who don't know how to drive in snow? :D

If you're not sure whether or not the OP was joking, then I'm not sure if Canada would let you move there. ;)

Trucker_JDub 03-11-08 03:43 PM

Sorry but I have heard so many stupid things going on up there that nothing surprises me. This doesn't make me stupid for believing it. It just means that maybe the OP's joke should be more over the top for others to know it was a joke.

Compared to the U.S., the nation that gave the world (okay, itself) "freedom fries"? You are incorrect.

Sorry, but in fact it does.

Newsflash! This just in...Americans don't understand subtlety and irony.

mrbubbles 03-11-08 04:03 PM

I once told an American we live in igloos and ride our dogsled to work. She took very seriously and said it was awesome.

SSP 03-11-08 04:53 PM

Just another reason I love living in northern California...current conditions: 74 degrees, clear skies, calm winds.

I've already logged well over 1000 miles for the year...Life is Good on the Best Coast.

It's just a poorly worded Env Canada weather warning. From what I was told, (at least) Toronto had a big snow storm earlier this week. Kind of like how high wave advisories may be a warning to some surfers while others may find it more fun/challenging.

Env Canada is more of a government dept for environment/weather research and related things. It's not really/doesn't have the power of a "citizen controlling agency".

That you actually think this is real is just sad!

Why don't you come out from under your rock some time and visit Canada to see for yourself, instead of believing everything you hear?

Machka 03-11-08 05:31 PM

Over here in Western Canada, the cycling season began last weekend. It has been sunny and warm (+9 to +11) since last Friday. :)
