Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

reasonably priced race wheels.

I am looking for a set of reasonably priced race wheels. Currently I mostly race mountain bikes, and my road bike has a powertap pro with training tires. I would like to get something a fair bit lighter that I could but some nice race tires on and use this season. I don't want to drop a grand since road isn't my primary discipline. Anyone have any suggestions?

American Classic 420s, $450 on ebay, 34mm deep, and ~1450g

or for a more box-rim wheel I'd poke around for a DT swiss RR1.1 build on ebay

also bikesoul.com

I'd say bike soul. Their 30 mm's should be great all rounders, or wait for the 40mm wheels for a better aero effect.

+1 on the American Classic 420's. I've got a set and race the hell out of them, they're lightweight, strong, and (semi) aero.
