That decent looks gorgeous - and I really like the incredibly low traffic.

This might not compare for video quality (no music), but a famous decent out here in SoCal (Santa Monica mountains, specifically) called "Rock Store." It's highly technical and a bit difficult at times: some of the turns have changing radii. Plus there's usually a lot of motorcycle traffic heading up the hill!

I use to live in Vermont. Any Vermonters here on upstate NY Route 4 dudes. Reminds me of those descents and multi gap rides.

Cool video. Remind me of this beautiful stretch of road up here in the Forks of the Credit. But not nearly as long as that. Looks that that car was really slowing them down. ;D

I wish I had something like that in this area. CT's got loads of hills, but there aren't too any mountains or epic climbs/descents in this area which are feasible by bike.

A good, long descent hurts as much as the climb in different ways. I cringe looking at it.

As intensity goes, yeah. I know that after a 15-20 minute descent I'm relieved to start the next ninety-minute-long climb. Holding a tight tuck hurts like a *******.

I'll never forget descending Lookout Mtn in Golden, CO the 100 or so times I've done it. There are several hairpin turns that lay out down the mountain like ribbons, and they are a blast. Lots of deer though. This is the only video I could find, but this rider's not too fast. 1:30 and especially 5:17 show the best parts of the descent, including views of Golden and the Coors brewery. The rider almost hits two deer. Mute your sound. Trust me.

The people in the car were probably thinking:
"How long will this guy sit back there before he decides to pass us??"

On a road like that, the double yellow line is merely a suggestion.

Taking it a hell of a lot faster than I would. Cornering, especially while descending, still scares me... :o

The rider looked pretty tentative to me. He wasn't taking full advantage of the road, wasn't cutting off the corners very hard, was sitting up quite a bit, and wasn't really working the bike into the corners. Perhaps he was worried about the debris on the road, but it didn't come off as an "ar$e kickin decent[sic]".

And displaying the Loser Flag in the intro didn't add much to it either...

But, the scenery was kind of nice.

This guy is on ATLBike.org and has the name HillBilly, thats why is says Hilly Billy productions. He lives no where near Atlanta though, but people are always going to ride with him in the mountains.

I prefer to climb up lookout and loop around the back hitting colfax. No turns going downhill and the speeds are amusing.
The last time I was up lookout we happened upon a herd of elk.
Anyhow, I will be riding up it on my March century this Saturday. I need to start adding a bit of climbing on my centuries but Lookout is a wee bit on the easy side.

That video looks like home, well it might as well be, close enough. I ride with HillBilly too. Nice guy.

If you can still pedal while going down it's not that steep.

Yeah, I found lookout was best as a 3x hill repeat. I couldn't bring myself to descend the other side more than once. the switchbacks are too tasty, even though you have to really reign it in.
