Specialized S-works 2008 road shoe
Specialized S-works 2008 road shoe- has anyone tried them? What is the verdict? I am worried about the non-replaceable heel. Other than that they look like winners.

Nice shoe...Didn't fit my foot...Too high in the ankle area and too much volume in the forefoot...I'm sticking with Sidi...

Got a pair sent to me earlier this year, love them so far. I have them set up with a bit of extra varus wedge and the medium arch soles. Very comfy, stiff, and light. I've mostly been wearing them with booties so I don't know how they do in the heat of summer, but they seem like they will vent well.

i have 1 model lower from last year and the non replacable heal is starting to worry me. After this season i will be down to the carbon sole. I like the look and other specs on the Sidis but they dont fit my feet.

I have last years model and love them. The BOA system hasn't given be any problems in the 1+ year that I've had them. They are light and comfy. As far as the non-replaceable heel, its a non-issue for me. I don't run around in them, just a few steps around the house and at the after ride coffee shop. My current s-works shoes are showing some heel wear, but no where close to the carbon.
BTW, just bought the 2008 ones you have pictured. Just waiting to adjust the new cleats.

They fit more narrow than last years S works but the 2008 buckle which comes out is tons better than last years ratchet. They are super light and very stiff too. They will be great in the summer since the top is fairly open to the wind.
Why are you guys concerned about the non-replaceable heel? They are CYCLING shoes not hiking shoes. I never replaced the heels in my Sidi's after 5 years.

I too am interested in the S-Works shoes...Have friends with other Specialized shoes with the non-replaceable heal and they have been fine. Just looking for reasonable prices on them now?

Wow, I replace my Sidi heels every six months. I pronate as I walk which wears only a portion of the heel down, but then it becomes unusable. If I rode less or didn't pronate then this would not be an issue.

I just put my cleats on my S-works (as pictured above) today. My other shoes are Sidi Genius Ergo 2. Granted, the Ergo 2 are a little big, but I really like the S-works shoe so far compared to the Sidi. I had the first generation S-works w/ Boa and I liked it a lot. My foot just shrunk and they ended up being way too big, so I got the Sidis to try.

I really, really, really like mine. I got the 2007's in orange/silver. Besides the vents, they look like the same shoe.
Anyways, I like them, and have nothing but praise for the BOA system. I've got practically no wear on the heels though.

I was just looking at these today at the store, I regret not trying them on. I only picked it up to feel how heavy they were (surprisingly light) and messed around with the boa system to see how it worked. The rest of the day I just kept thinking about them. I'd love to have a light shoe that's super simple to tighten and loosen. Only drawback is the price tag . Maybe I'll wait until my lbs has a sale or maybe I'll just decide to splurge.
How much did people pay for the S-Works shoes?
I just realized the 08 only comes in funky colors. The 07 colors looked better.

i have a set of sidi dominators - 43.5 w/ superfeet insoles- bought a set of the genius' and then returned them, since they're essentially the same damn shoe with different treads. going to the lbs to try on some specialized bg pros. i've heard that a little shoe goo now and then on the heel can help with the specialized shoes.

I just bought a leftover 07 pair about a month ago and love them. Very light and very secure. Recommend completely.

I've got em.
(in a slightly more subtle black and silver).
They're nice. The boa may be more of a gimmick though. They're really not significantly better than straps. You also can't adjust tension at various points of the shoe differently as you'd be able to if you had three velcro or ratcheted straps.
I'm pleased with them though.
