Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have you seen this rim, 33mm Carbon/Niobium rim

So I was just browsing some old threads and found this. Ligero(Troy Watson) was building wheels with this rim about a year or 2 ago. It's a 30mm Niobium rim wraped with carbon. Weighs about 365g. Troy has said that this rim is no longer avaliable in the US but is still being built.

Anyone know where I can find more info? Can I order this? and more importantly, how much is it?

imaging taken from Ligero's post on Roadbikerewviews.

Anyone have any info on this? I'm looking for new rims to complete a wheelbuild and I'd kill for these.

they were made by Meks if I recall and ran about $120. Like you said, I don't think they aren't available anymore.

Since Nio30s weigh around 460g I'd be interested in how they dropped 95g in the process. More likely it is a carbon wrap as you stated and weighs at least 465g (probably more). Mostly cosmetic... just get Nio30s for a lot less money.

That's what I was wondering. If it's carbon wrapped, meaning it's just for looks and does jack****, all it's going to do is ADD weight? Not decrease it?

Maybe it's bonded. Who knows, maybe it helps with aero too.
