Birth of a New Machine

I finally got my new baby out for her first road test yesterday. As luck would have it, I had a white garage door on hand for the occasion. It was foggy, so the light quality sucks in the pictures. I'll repost a porn shot once the new skewers arrive.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/IMG_4728.jpg

My initial reaction is WOW! She's light (15.24 lbs), corners on a dime, and accelerates like a ***** ape. I only did about 12 miles on her, as she had a few creaks and moans, and since it was so freakin cold I had my ears covered, I didn't want to have anything turn into a problem, so I dropped her off and finished my ride on my old steed as the mist turned to light rain.

I decided to name her "Twitchy".

Build details:

RT700 frame & fork
GXP BB
Cane creek ZS2
SRAM Red group
SRAM 1090 chain
Oval Concepts R900 bar & stem
Profile design silver carbon tape (still looking for some silver electrical tape, so the duct tape is a temporary cure)
Control Tech iPost
SLR saddle
Jagwire housings
Rav-X bottle cages
Speedplay X/1 pedals
Custom wheels - Niobium 27's, Tune mig/mag, Sapim X-ray
Skewers are temporary until my silver KCNC's arrive
Lunarlight tubes
Ultremo tires

Me neither, but that's a sweet machine!
Put some large mileage on 'er and report back, willya?

Standard 04-07-08 10:36 AM

very nice,

what do you think of the jagwire cables?

bonechilling 04-07-08 10:38 AM

You're killing me with the duct tape on the handlebars.

Fox Farm 04-07-08 10:40 AM

Very nice! Why are some of you guys not Kestrel fans? This company was making carbon right at the beginning of the movement. I use to have a 200 EMS and it was a great bike!

HAMMER MAN 04-07-08 10:40 AM

sweet machine,now go ride

I'm actually using the Sram cables that came with the group. They have a coating on them and they're very smooth. I selected the Jagwire housings based on the color , and I've had zero problems with Jagwire cables & housings on my other bike.

Nice, nice, nice.......http://fairwheelbikes.com/forum/imag...iley_vomit.gif Please get rid of the freakin duct tape.

FrankBattle 04-07-08 10:55 AM

That can't be duct tape. Is it?

They do make electrical tape in many colours, you know.

Uh, dude. When I first saw the pic I thought, "Hmm. That handlebar tape looks like duct tape."

Then bonechilling said "you're killing me with the duct tape..." And I laughed. Very funny, indeed.

Then you talk like it REALLY IS duct tape?

No way.

Right?

I read it. But it still hurt my eyes.

Beautiful bike. I have heard nothing but good about SRAM Red.

Now, about that duct tape......

Pleeeeeeese. We will take up a collection it we have to.

Nachoman 04-07-08 12:31 PM

Well if I can get a collection I might hold out and look for silver carbon electrical tape - the stuff they use on those high-end wiring jobs...

PS I'm dumping the Sram 1090 chain. It's noisy as hell and when I turn the crank I can feel it resisting before it hops onto each tooth on the crank. I'll try it with a KMC, I've had good luck with them on my other bike.

See - with all the focus on the duct tape, no one has given me ***** (yet) for the Garmin.

Nothing wrong with the Garmin...you mounted it on the stem - good.

Now back to the duct tape. I'm not sure, but you may be the first to use duct tape on a brand new bike. This could make you famous 'round here.

wow

that is one nice ride.
