Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why wont tube size 700 x 23/32 work "here" ?

I got a puncture last night and my tyres are 700 x 23 mm type. A spare unused tube I keep is 700 x 23/32 so I fitted it. Its fitted correctly but the tyre gives a big bulge outwards directly above the hole where the valve is threaded through and if I pump it any more, the tyre is coming off the rim.

I then checked the punctured tube and it says 700x 18/25 and feels slimmer than the 700x23/32. With it being a 23 mm tyre, is the 700mmx18/25 the correct choice for replacement, even though I thought the 700 x 23/32 would have done the job ?

The 18/25 would be ideal.

is it normal for the 23/32 to be causing a huge bulge on a 23mm tyre though and the tyre is inflated to the recommended 100 psi.

I've never seen a 23/32... you sure it's not a missprint of 28/32?
18/23/25, 20/25, 28/32, 32/38 is what I'm used to seeing.
But if it really is a 23/32, I'm interested since I could use those.

yeah, its a 23/32 alright , but i am based in the uk. why would that size cause a bulge in a 23mm tyre where the 18/25 doesnt , thats what i am really trying to find out.
