Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bar tape color opinion - POLL

Hello all. Any opinions on a more visually pleasing (OCP) bartape? Currently Black.

The Black looks good. Maybe white but not red as it was pointed out to me, contrasting colors are good and trying to match colors (like the red on the frame) would be very difficult.

what's wrong with the colour of it right now?
Maybe go with grey or 'carbon fiber'

That looks like you have a Toupe saddle. Switch it to the white with red accents Team Toupe and it will come with white bar tape. It will look really sharp! But even with the black the white looks good. Yeah, I know it gets dirty but it still looks good!

Black. White would be cool, but you would need a white saddle. Like this one...

Should always keep your saddle and bar tape the same color, so keep it black.

Actually, I like solid color that fades to another color, like start with red, but fades to white. Yeah!

Bartape is cheap and easy to replace. No reason not to be whimsical about it.

That's what I think too. Pick a color and wrap your bars. Whenever you decide you don't like it anymore, pick another color and try that. After you do that a few times you'll get a feel for matching colors and the like. Then you won't have to ask people you don't know what color you should use.

I see you have Deda. Good choice. A favorite of mine as well. Note that Deda makes a nice looking silver tape with a carbon weave pattern. That might look nice.

Black. That bike just screams 'keep me black.'

If you could match the shade, red end plugs could be classy.

Red and white might go with your decals? Stella Azzura make one:

I think I was still using the Deda silver in this photo, though the tape is old and dirty here (~ 4000 km)

Just changed to the Cinelli silver/carbon, which feels the same but isn't as shiny looking. Deda and Velo also make a chrome look silver tape if you want to go OTT.

Black now. White between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Off-White if your riding it to a wedding.
