FSA Bar owners

How do you size the bars? FSA says they are narrower on the hoods and flare out in the drops. Anyone have a picture of what this looks like from the cockpit? Is it noticable? Thanks

What FSA bars are you talkting about? I have K-Wings on my road bike, and don't notice the drops being any wider than the hoods.

It's only a hair's breadth of difference, in my experience. Not enough to notice while out on the road.

phantazy 04-09-08 10:46 PM

I have K force carbon 440mm c to c(non-wing) and they don't.

I think he is inquiring about the new Compact bars. The FSA website mentions that the drops flare out.

Quijibo187 04-09-08 11:11 PM

The old compact bars (last years) do flare out a bit, but I think that it's to allow you to hold the drops more comfortably, so that your arm doesn't hit the upper part. may be wrong though

I have the Wing Pro Compact Alloy bars.....I can take a pictue tonight but off the top of my head if there's flare it's very subtle.....

Great bars by the way........went through quite a few others before discovering these....very happy !!

yes, pics please. I'm looking into ordering those a well.

jackcoke 04-10-08 08:22 AM

I am just about to order a compact FSA bar. I am debating the width. My shoulder width tells me it should be 42 but I put a 44 on my cross bike for better control and I'm kinda liking it. Hmm...

What size do y'""all have? Compared to your shoulders?

jackcoke 04-10-08 08:23 AM

Are the true measurements c-c?

Jynx 04-10-08 08:27 AM

they are c-c at the drops meaning narrower on the hoods. I have heard much narrower thats why I am looking for some pics.

jackcoke 04-10-08 08:33 AM

Interesting because they only make 40, 42 and 44. That made me think they may run big. I should probably go 44 then.

Maybe a link to the product would be nice. I could not find it on FSA's website.

Here is the specific PDF. It is also mentioned in the handlebar FAQ.

i just picked up some alloy wing compacts and went with my regular size (42). there is a subtle little flare but it's not enough to go up a size, at least to me.

jackcoke 04-10-08 10:36 AM

Thanks for the PDF, just what I was looking for.

I never knew their US headquarters were so close to my house.

Here's my review of the FSA Omega shallow drops that I have.

Wiley J 04-10-08 02:25 PM

My 44cm Compacts are 44cm center to center at the ends, and 42cm center to center at the hoods.

Thanks for the review. FSA Omega Shallow Drop bars. 44 cm is the exact bar I am looking at. Any more pictures? Side shots from further or cockpit shots? Thanks!
