Are you a LeMond hater or lover... Trek seems to hate now

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Interesting. I have always liked Lemond, and I think he kind of gets a raw deal for pointing out what seems rather obviously true to me; professional cyclists dope. Too bad for him that also involved criticizing Treks biggest marketing asset.

Lemonds are the only good looking bikes Trek makes. I hope that brand survives as high end production steel.

Trying to taint the jury pool perhaps? Nothing like some pre-trial slander to get the lawyers salivating.

That presentation makes TREK sound like a total ******bag @ssholes. They cite a few customer letters/emails that they received to prove/prove how Lemond's comments damaged the TREK and Lemond brands. What a bunch of ******bag idiots.

Lemond as a bike I like ok. Lemond as a person I am not so sure. I am on the fence on that one but I think I am liking him as a person as well.

What a bunch of bunk.

Always been a fan of the LeMondster, except for when I raced against him.

That is an almost obscene example of corporate double speak. They are doing this to protect the TREK "family" from Greg? They may have gone to far with that kind of hyperbole. Every step of the way they cast LeMond as the beneficiary of their benevolence and themselves as the victims of his petulance. I know most people aren't trained to think for themselves, but this is so blatant I hope people will see through it.

Wow, "best bicycle company in the world"?

No trace of smugness or arrogance in that statement at all. Between them and LeMond, I don't know who's worse.

I'm trying to understand how people think Trek is being unreasonable in all this, but it's not working. I have nothing but admiration for Lemond, but he's in bed with Trek, who has all this money invested in Armstrong, he should either STFU or drop the association with Trek. But Greg can't, nobody wants his brand, he's tarnished it too badly with his incessant press clippings. Why shouldn't Trek and its dealers be upset with the Lemond comments in the press? Apparently Greg needs them 100x more than they need him.

I give up on this Think Tank.

No matter what you think of LeMond, Armstrong, or Trek, that PowerPoint presentation is pretty unprofessional and reeks of the bitterness that is normally associated with Greg.

Wow, what a cluster****.

+1. I've met him twice (the first time was a couple of months after his '86 win) and he also is one of the reasons I started cycling. Once the man, still the man...

Makes me feel even better about selling my Trek. Just lost what little respect I had for the company.

Here's to a successful Tour of Missouri with Astana.

The guy is legend and I have the utmost respect for what he achieved in the sport; but from a commercial perspective he’s an idiot and I don’t see any way back...

I love Lemonds. I don't own one, but I wish I did, a nice 853. I've ridden them, and I love 'em.

I don't hate Treks, I just wouldn't own one, and if someone gave me one I would dispose of it in a responsible manner.

He was a bit of a loose cannon from Trek's point of view, I can see that. But still, that .pdf is absolutely cringeworthy...
